High Desert Wilderness Survival
John Battle – Head Instructor/Owner
John’s love of the wilderness began when he was growing up living in rural (middle of nowhere) Florida. His family camped often and he was often found in the middle of the woods making forts and rope courses.
John served in the US Army at Fort Bragg in the 37th Engineer Battalion (C)(A) and in the Florida Army National Guard in the 20th SFG(A). While in the military, some of the schools he attended were Airborne School, Pathfinder School, Jungle Warfare School, and Survival Evasion Resistance Escape (SERE – High Risk Level C). He was also deployed to Central America several times during his time in the military.
After the military, John was a State Trooper in the Florida Highway Patrol and served on their Special Response Team(SRT) aka SWAT. He also was a firearms instructor for the FHP.
John is a certified firearms instructor through the NRA and does provide firearms instruction in addition to providing wilderness survival training. He also has an Federal Firearms License (FFL) for firearm sales.
John is also a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and volunteers with the local volunteer fire department as well as utilizing the skills in the instruction of Wilderness First Aid.
